Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens Homepage

One of the largest purpose built art galleries in Cornwall

Tremenheere Gallery is an important addition to the arts and gallery scene in Penzance and Cornwall, with an evolving programme of curated shows from local, national and international artists.

Tremenheere Gallery presents selling exhibitions of paintings and prints by internationally renowned artists, as well as those living and working in Cornwall. With two exhibition spaces, across two floors, the beautiful oak framed building is one of the largest purpose-built galleries in Cornwall. Since opening in January 2017, it has hosted solo exhibitions of work by artists including Gillian Ayres, Rose Hilton, Stephen Chambers, Jeremy Le Grice, Romi Behrens and Jessica Cooper.

On most occasions the lower gallery presents changing solo or group exhibitions. The upper gallery, which tends to present an on-going mixed exhibition of work by the gallery’s stable of artists, regularly features work inspired by the sculpture gardens and the surrounding landscape.

Newlyn Society of Artists

Twice a year Tremenheere Gallery is also used by the Newlyn Society of Artists (NSA) to curate exhibitions of their members’ work. Originally formed in 1896, previous NSA members have included Stanhope Forbes, Alfred Munnings, Laura Knight, Dod Procter, Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron and Terry Frost. Today the NSA is a diverse group of approximately 85 professional contemporary artists working across all disciplines from painting and sculpture to performance.
